My house was built in 2002, just before HDMI became widespread, so I have a wired component that runs from the multimedia cabinet to the main TV in the great room. (Approximately 100 feet from A/V Receiver to TV). Since I overdid it a bit, I also have two regular coax cables (one for regular cable straight to the TV and a spare for whatever). Well, a spare coax just came in handy. I always put off switching to HDMI because my old A/V receiver only had component inputs and outputs. But I finally decided it was time to switch to a new Blu-ray player and they basically only have HDMI outputs. I tried various ways of converting HDMI to component to avoid a costly upgrade, but none of the converters worked properly and I finally decided to just give up and upgrade my A/V receiver. I bought these baluns as the only way to make this upgrade possible and I can't believe how easy they were to install. The hardest part was finding reliable BNC to coax adapters, but I was able to find them at my local radio store (they can just be returned if they don't work). Making the connections was surprisingly easy, and once everything was powered up and set to the correct inputs, everything worked. One thing I've noticed is that when changing channels on my TiVo there is sometimes a drop in signal that makes my TV think there's no input, but then it comes back pretty quickly (maybe a few seconds). I wish that hadn't happened - mainly because I still don't think they're really going to work as well as they seem, so I keep thinking I might not get a signal back one of those times - but it's a very minor one Paying a price for how good the transmitted signal is and how easy it was to get it working. I'm sure I'll stop worrying about glare after a few months/years of use. Overall, I highly recommend these devices. Compatibility Note: I have confirmed that my TiVo, Blu-ray player and Apple TV will work with these baluns. Update: After using them for some time I noticed some issues so wanted to report. I downgraded it from 5 stars to 4 because I was having trouble using it with my Apple TV and Blu-ray player. I notice that the video signal is intermittent, causing my screen to turn off momentarily for no apparent reason. I purchased the film through iTunes and streamed it on my Apple TV. While the same movie streamed flawlessly on my iPad, when using it through an Apple TV, these interruptions were frequent enough to be so annoying that I now put the Apple TV in the living room and plug it directly into the TV (no issues with the TV). dimming with direct connection). The same dimming problem occurs with the Blu-Ray player, albeit to a lesser extent, so I'm not giving up on it just yet. It still works great with my TiVo. I am considering returning them and see if the same issue occurs with another pair. I will sign up if
