This tank is way better than any starter tank you'll find at the pet store - and you can't beat the price. PROS: *big enough for a betta to float around and have some space *great design perfect for offices, kids rooms or any other place you want to place it *wireless! My tank is designed for my office where outlet space is VERY limited * the light is bright and makes the tank look nice * the light is on the outside of the tank which means small splashes of water don't get into the lantern and cause damage can (see photos). I've had many aquariums in the past and a broken lantern from being in the water for a long time is the worst * The lantern is battery operated and there is a place to plug it in. I've read in other reviews that the plug can charge batteries, but I haven't tested that theory yet. My Kindle charger fits so you don't have to buy a new cable just to charge the flashlight. You may already have something suitable around the house.* Easy to clean* The light can be placed on the top of the aquarium or on the bottom if you prefer to put it on the floor. These irregularities make it impossible to place artificial plants with large bases in the aquarium. Both of my plants are at the front of the tank to avoid bumps and I would prefer to put the plants towards the back. You can see the bumps in the photos (the bumps are exactly the same on the bottom of the tank as on the top of the tank). HOWEVER - the advantages of this tank far outweigh the disadvantages. I liked this tank so much that I ordered a second tank for my colleague. She currently has a rooster in a much smaller tank and I know he would be happier in this one.
