Before I buy a horse fly mask I put it on my eyes to check my vision through the mesh and stitching. You would be surprised how some masks actually obscure vision due to the seams and/or heavier mesh, and even some of the "funny" patterns ruin vision. These Silent Riding masks from Cashel offer excellent vision so I now use them not only for riding but also out in the pasture as I want my horses to have good vision in the event of an approaching predator (dog, wild animal or?). . the opportunity when I get home after dark. Yes, they're light, but they're well made and hold up pretty well, and maybe because they're so light and comfortable I find they hold up better - maybe because they're less likely to get scratched and worn out?
