Wow, now I finally have good speakers to set up, surround sound. Marvelous!

I was trying to get a great sound for our living room afterwards. Years. I have a decent AVR (Yamaha HTR-5990) so I'm set for good sound. But before we renovated our house, there was no way to make it work. We now have a reasonable setup with our sofa against the back wall about 10ft from the TVs/front speakers - I use these for surround back. I mounted two Polk speakers on the ceiling at about the same level as the back of the sofa, about a foot or so from the back wall and a few feet from the edges of the sofa. It's not ideal for a number of reasons, but it works great with these speakers. I pointed the tweeter toward the back wall and slightly away from the couch. The AVR has auto levels and EQ which is great because it saves time and probably works better than me. sometimes heard as "on" which was a bit distracting. These speakers are completely different - you never know they're on, so surround sound feels completely natural. The sound fills the room, but in a subtle and spectacular way; rich and full with even distribution. We had an excellent experience. When we first installed the speakers, it wasn't obvious to others that they were on. So I switched off and everyone immediately knew the difference. I took it a step further by temporarily using (and putting up) my old speakers - it wasn't a room - same on and off problem. I'm really impressed with how immersive well tuned surround sound can be and I'm sure these speakers are all I could possibly need for my purpose. Impressive and not very expensive.
