TLDR: I like the phone. Minor flaws, overall a good product. ****** FIRST CHECK ****** My lifestyle/profession requires a reliable phone. This one in particular drew me in with the promise of long battery life and a very good camera for the price. What I didn't expect was that a rugged phone would break so easily. I didn't even do anything to him. ; Just navigate to the junkyard with Google Maps. I walked around the junkyard with it in my pocket (it never fell out) and when I got back to my car there was an ugly dead zone on the touchscreen that wouldn't allow me to enter my PIN to unlock my phone. Restarting made the problem worse because now the Ghost Enters screen types in random numbers and presses Enter; quickly kept getting incorrectly pinned and causing a temporary ban. This "rugged" phone broke faster than my Samsung Fragility Q7+. Now I would like to extend doubts about this company. Manufacturing defects do occur and I am happy to admit that I may indeed have received a defective unit. I haven't received a response from the seller yet, but I really want to hear what they have to say about the situation. So, in fairness, I have to admit that things were looking very promising prior to the phone's failure. The thing is absolutely bricked. fall protection? I think it. It's so heavy it would probably break through the floor and leave a crater in the basement. Waterproof to 1.5 meters? I think it. You lower that thing to five feet and that's how much water it displaces. If you accidentally drop him in the toilet during a sit visit, he won't even flinch; He would simply respond with Poseidon's kiss, so terrifying that even Zeus would blush. I haven't had to charge it yet because I'm pretty sure it gets its power from the fear it instills in the seams of your pocket. UPDATE: After a few of the usual customer service excuses of Revain pointing the finger at the seller and the seller pointing the finger at Revain, I ended up just requesting a refund/replacement. This replacement came quickly and is working well so far. So here's my honest review: Yes, the thing works as it says, but you know what you want from a phone. This particular phone isn't suited to classes where you'll be spending hours on the phone (mainly due to its weight), BUT if you want a phone that feels indestructible, this thing should fill that role. Being a prototype designer myself, I spend a lot of time in shops, junkyards and places with a greasy/dusty/rusty character. I also spend a lot of time outdoors so it's good for my lifestyle so far! I've only had to charge it twice in a week of owning it. That's why I only give it 4 stars out of 5: 1) The design feels awkward in the hand. I can handle bulkiness, but some things are just oddly placed. For example, the fingerprint sensor is placed in such a way that it is almost impossible not to touch it and the sensor does not work very well. Also, the volume buttons are directly opposite the screen lock button, so whenever I adjust the volume, the pressure of my hand on the other side of the device often locks the screen. 2) No extra headphone cable. Don't get it wrong; I'm well versed in Bluetooth. But sometimes I might just have my cheap in-ear headphones. They include a set of headphones that use a USB-C connector, but that's the same connector used for charging. That way you won't be charging and plugging in your headphones at the same time (not that I expect that to happen often given the battery life). It seems just another backward innovation that companies follow simply because Apple made it first, not because it's a good idea. On the one hand, I'm encouraged that a supposedly waterproof phone has solid cable port covers. On the other hand, sometimes I get drunk and want to plug my phone in before I pass out. 4) Speakers on the back of the phone. I never understood that in terms of design. It's not hard to at least have speakers on the edge. But let's agree that the speakers on the front of the phone (you know where the screen is) are perfect. Maybe their engineers know something I don't. Something needs to be clarified; i am a designer My whole job is to point out the problem areas of products, so I've listed those things so people understand my complaints. In general, I like the phone very much. I think the next generation of this design could really blow things up! From the looks of it, I only have minor complaints. And I mean underage. It's a budget murder weapon, not a $1,200 branded badge that will crack your screen if you look at it from the wrong angle.
