Didn't last after putting it on. Too small

Tried to use it on wash hoses. After tightening the hose fitting with this mesh, I tightened the other end. The first tightened end has jumped out and the fitting is now loose. The rubber part has slipped into the middle of the hose. Luckily I didn't turn on the water. I removed the screens.
