Review on GERMANIKURE Tapered Professional Cuticle Trimmer by Shannon Smith

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Without a doubt my new favorite couple; GREAT customer service

I noticed that the photos are not in the order I described in the review below. So photos 1 and 5 are the second/new product. Photos 2-4 are the first/damaged product. From left to right, the leftmost image is number 1. *** Review updated September 23, 2020 *** I left my original review for reference. I was contacted by the sales rep for the product and after a while the sales rep showed the production manager the pictures I originally posted (first three photos). The production manager pointed out that my original pair had probably fallen off, resulting in excess metal on one of the ends of the blade (I still think it was a burr, but whatever). Regardless, they sent me a new pair and WOW! Doesn't matter. First of all, a big thank you for the excellent customer service. Talk about doing your best to do the right thing with the customer (other salespeople can definitely learn a thing or two from these guys). Second, what a wonderful tool. The second pair features an almost perfectly triangular tip (both blade tips meet into a unified tip), super sharp blades, and the blades converge and make contact at almost all points (if you hold the wire cutters under a light, a little light comes through, suggesting there is a very small gap along the hairline). The last two photos show interchangeable wire cutters (photos 4 and 5 - note the difference in how the blades fit together in the first and last photos). The wire cutters are of good weight, presumably due to the quality of the steel. As a result, the blades don't dull as quickly and I don't have to worry about frequent sharpening. I guess I'll only find out after a few years of use. Using them is a real pleasure. They separate the skin easily without effort. I use them on my kids as they often get hangnails and tend to fidget a lot while trying to remove the hangnail (which usually results in a bigger and more painful hangnail). Now I can squeeze quickly without using excessive force and the burr is removed with maximum efficiency. You pay more but you get what you pay for. With proper care, they will last a lifetime. ************************************************ *************************************************** ****** **** ******* Original review 08/29/2020*** I was so excited when I ordered this trimmer. They are quite expensive for the asking price, but I believe in "you get what you pay for". At 5 times the price of the average trimmer they should have been phenomenal but to my great disappointment my $5 trimmers I have at home have a much better finish. The shape of the jaw is excellent, the angle they create is excellent. , the quality of the steel is excellent, but without proper processing all these properties mean nothing. The poor quality in my particular case made this tool almost unusable. I'm not sure if my case was a defect or just poor quality control in general. Besides the quality of the steel and the sharpness of the blades, what separates good trimmers from lousy cheap ones is the contact between the two blades. have with each other. With quality trimmers, the two blades should be in full contact at all points when the trimmer sponge is closed (without using excessive force). When this is true, full blade contact creates a trimmer that can cut at any point on the cheek blade (front, center, or back). Combine full contact with a sharp blade and you have a precise tool that's fun to use. The item I received looked and felt like a quality trimmer until I saw the blades and their contact. The person processing them was either blind or had crooked hands. The blades only touch at the very tip, rendering the rest of the jaw blades virtually useless unless you use unnecessary force and press much harder than necessary. Also, in my particular case, the tip of the tool wasn't even properly aligned, partly due to a burr on the tip of one of the blades. All in all very disappointing. Not what I would expect from a "Made in Germany" tool that costs 5x more than your average trimmer. A picture is worth a thousand words. Look at you.
