I have several TP-Link Kasa LB120 lightbulbs and was going to buy 3 more but when I looked again they were $43 each! When I first bought them they were easily half the price. Since I didn't want to spend so much money on it, I looked for an alternative and found it. I'm familiar with CREE LEDs in other applications (automotive lighting) so I was comfortable trying these bulbs.1. Setup: Installing lamps is not as easy as with Kasa lamps. It's a similar process but it takes 3-4 tries for each bulb. I understand IoT technologies and devices, so I knew how to fix the problem. However, it was annoying and unexpected given the ease of pairing and the quick success I've had with the Kasa.2 bulbs. Durability: I can't comment on that yet as I installed it yesterday. Again, I'm optimistic given Cree's solid reputation in the LED space.3. Current Fix: Again, I have no history with these. However, I hope that they are at least as stable as the Kasa pears. In my experience with other lightbulbs, they turn off the mains from time to time - not often; maybe just a few times a year. But it's annoying, and the bulbs are out and awkward to put back in. I hope CREE bulbs don't have this problem. Features: I have these bulbs in a couple of living room lights and wanted them to have an equivalent brightness of 100w and a color temperature function that tracks daylight. The app also supports scheduling, scenes, and grouping, which is honestly expected of smart bulbs. The fact that they change color is a fun party trick, but I don't know how often I'll be using this. Maybe set up a movie view scene with color? 5. Smart Assistant Integration: I have an Android phone and I use Google Assistant and the integration works great. I tested the following: turn on/off a single bulb, turn on/off a group, adjust the brightness, adjust the color temperature (tried 3500k and 5000k) and change the color to red. I tried to make a scene with the assistant but to no avail. Given my success in other tests, I'm pretty sure I just have the wrong command. Summary: I've bought lightbulbs for $13 each. Even after only 24 hours I am very satisfied with it. There are things only time will tell. I only bought them because I can change the color temperature at certain times of the day - as long as they do that, all else is gravy. If you're looking for lightbulbs that have essentially the same features as other smart lightbulbs, I encourage you to try them. Why pay 3-5 times more for the same features?
