Review on Lystin Decoration Halloween Festival Waterproof by Sherrie Webb

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good, simple LED solution: the battery life is short and consumes 3 batteries at the same time.

I am a 3D printer beginner and professional photographer. As I develop my printing skills and work on increasingly complex prints, especially around the holidays, I'm always looking for ways to brighten up my prints. Embedding lights, wires, and batteries in a print can inevitably be a challenge. These little round lights that stand on their own are a GREAT solution for adding LED goodness in the simplest possible way. They're fairly bright and maintain that brightness for most of their shortened battery life. I uploaded the outline drawing. I've found that a very good way to incorporate this light into smaller reproductions is to create a 22.5mm x 11.5mm cylinder in the piece and then glue the sphere into that cylinder. You end up with a rubber boot (13.5mm diameter) and a grommet that protrudes beyond the gasket, but if you put it on its back it's no big deal and you can use the rubber boot as a switch as the LED will move turns on and off by twisting . The best filament I have used was Taulman 3D T-Glase which has excellent optical properties. So why not 5 stars? Well, the LED only burns for a few hours, and then you need THREE BATTERIES. These batteries, shown in several attached photos, are of the LR41 type. The cheapest I found on Revain was $7 for 40, which is about $0.50 for a replacement: NOT CHEAP. I'll keep looking for cheaper ways to order, but have to say paying 50 cents for each print every day isn't great. I'm looking for a way to wire up a USB port so I can plug in an LED, but if I do I could just mount a bare LED and plug it in directly. So if you're looking for a very simple way to add an LED to something, this isn't much. Easier than that. However, if you want to glow for more than a few minutes, unless you have battery storage, you'll have to look for another solution! Recommended with reservations.

Pros
  • 🔆 Battery Operated Lamps: 3 x 1.5V LR41 batteries in each LED (included), glow for up to 48 hours, 2-3 hours is optimal brightness. Reusable, economical and environmentally friendly.
Cons
  • This makes me angry
