Review on πŸŽ₯ Amcrest AWC195-B: 1080P Webcam with Mic for Desktop - HD USB Web Camera with Privacy Cover, Wide Angle Lens & Superior Low Light Performance by Brian Inman

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Chosen from others based on previous experience with Amcrest. Not disappointed!

So. As the way we all conduct business and meetings has changed, the webcam has become a must have for it. Although my iPhone X can handle appointments, screen sharing has become a more important part and the ability to see what someone has on my phone. It just doesn't work. I decided to find a good webcam. As for me, I have several Amcrest security cameras and they all worked perfectly, so this was one of my first choices. I looked at others and for a few extra bucks this was and is my first choice. It arrived in good condition and of course I had to try it right away. I usually build my systems but in this case it's a store bought Asus PC Tower and plugged in once. he found it and everything was set up in no time. To test, I set up a call through Microsoft Teams and the video was great but no sound. I delved into the system settings and for some reason the mic was off. Hm. After re-enabling, exiting and restarting the Teams session, the video and audio worked fine. The person who tested with me was happy with the sound as it didn't sound muffled like others we've heard on calls. The camera resolution is good and works in both good and bad light. I have to put a dimmer on my lights as without it in my office there are two directly above me giving me a bit of a white glow - once I turned them off the picture was great but too dark. (But I expected that!). Basically I am satisfied with the device. I like the privacy shutter and especially the visual confirmation that the device is powered off/on with the red and green lights on the front. My only issue (all in my settings) is that my monitors are on a stand and about 10 inches from the desktop. As a result, the camera is set too high and there is always the feeling of "looking down" when using it. You'll need to come up with a magnetic mount or stand to get them at the right height, about halfway up the monitors, but be able to get them out of the way when not in use. The device is fine, but it's just my setup that's causing it pain. Otherwise, the audio is solid, the video is solid, and the install went normally. Less than I thought, but in this case it's good.
