Great value solution for near instant hot water

PROZRTED Smart Circulation System for instant hot water with built in thermostat HBS24-12 I've had this pump for about 2 months now and have been really pleased. We recently moved into a 1988 one story home and found that the hot water in our master bathroom took forever. The house isn't all that big, but the water heater is in the garage and runs through a concrete slab to all the different hot water faucets, eventually reaching the main bathroom. Although we live in Florida, we elderly find the water too cold to shower. Thanks to crazy homeowners insurance we were forced to replace our water heater and that didn't help either, but the plumber suggested we turn the bathroom hot water faucet on full blast until there was hot water and then take a shower. Well it worked but we were shocked by our next water bill. In fact, as in most communities, the sewage bill was double the water bill. That's when I started researching these pumps. I didn't go into too much detail, but in most systems the pump was installed in series with the hot water line at the water heater with a cross-pipe thermostatic control valve at the farthest sink. Revain and other vendors had options that seemed to be in the plus $500 range, but the Prozrted system showed up considerably cheaper, plus the cross valve was built into the pump and you install it in the farthest sink, without one having to hit pipe. Kettle. Sorry, this cheaper system isn't from the US, but I've had good experiences supporting them so far. You need an outlet next to the sink. I believe if your plumbing skills involve replacing your sink faucet you should be able to install this pump. It comes with all the connecting hoses but don't do like me and note the appropriate connectors where the hoses are bolted to and you need to move them to the correct connectors. In my situation I need longer hoses anyway so a trip to Home Depot was required. Also, don't forget that metal-to-metal connections require Teflon tape to prevent thread runout. The pump worked and we finally got hot water without filling the tub. For the elderly, the pump cut-off temperature seemed a bit lower than we wanted. It turns out that the temperature setting can be changed, but this requires a remote control, which is sold separately. I ordered one from Revain but it took a few weeks to arrive due to overseas shipping issues. When this happened I couldn't connect the remote control to the pump. Through Revain I contacted Prozrted for troubleshooting including sending a video and they quickly concluded that the problem was with the pump and sent a replacement from the US warehouse. It helped and our next water/wastewater bill was significantly lower. The pump itself probably uses less electricity than your smart tv in a day, but I was concerned that the electricity is trying to keep the water in the concrete warm all day. I connected a smart plug to the pump output and simply told Alexa to turn on the hot water pump before they took a shower. Most of the time we have hot water when we shower. Sometimes I noticed a problem first with hot and then with cold water. It turns out that while the concrete slab cools the water quickly, the plumbing in the sink keeps the water warm enough to keep the valve closed. My solution is to just reach out the pump under the sink and turn it on manually. This is much easier with a pump under the sink than on top of the water heater. With only a few months of use, I can't comment on long-term reliability, but I don't see why it shouldn't last long.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Not as thick as other options
