Review on IAQ Mini CO2 Desktop Monitor by Tony Reid

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Easy-to-use Air Quality Meter

There are many air quality meters, such as particulate matter, etc. This one specifically measures carbon dioxide levels. Recently, the importance of this type of monitor as a ventilation assessment tool has increased. For example, high levels of CO2 in crowded places indicate poor ventilation, where airborne diseases can easily be transmitted. The product description does not contain any details. It does not include a power adapter, but does include a cable for powering it from any standard 5 volt USB jack. Although designed for desktop use, it can be powered by any standard mobile phone power adapter. Readings are updated within 1 minute. The required power according to the manual is 5 volts / 300 mA. There is no associated software. The instructions are complete and clear. As it has no internal battery; All readings, history and time setting will be lost when the device is turned off. The temperature and humidity readings are in good agreement with the internal readings of my weather station. The two holes on the back allow mounting on a vertical surface such as a wall. Has an easy to read display. The device is about 45 cm away from me under my PC monitor. I realize that my personal CO2 production depends on what I do. It seems to increase the associated concentration noticeably. My CO2 readings range from 500 to 900 ppm. It shows a baseline of 410ppm first thing in the morning. Against this background, it can happen that a group of relaxed meditators in a closed room generates significantly less CO2 than a group of the same size that plays wildly. This can influence the choice of ventilators. Just a little scientific observation that might be of research interest with this CO2 monitor.
