Review on Panasonic WES035P Replacement HydraClean Cartridges by Kelsey Watson

Get the most out of Panasonic Vortex cleaning cartridges and you get a wet/dry shaver.

I have been using Panasonic wet/dry shavers and Vortex cartridges for over 25 years. Cleaning cartridges turn yellow-brown if stored for a long time (present when the foil is opened), so do not buy for more than a year. I get 2 months or more from each cartridge - and here's how. I only run the cleaning cycle when I charge the shaver. Since I don't shave every day anymore, it's probably once every 10 days or so. However, my shaving heads are spotlessly clean and shiny without any shaving cream residue. After every shave I remove the shaving head cap, put some LIQUID HAND SOAP on the blades, put the cap back on and run the shaver for 15-20 seconds, then rinse with the cap off. This works because liquid hand soap contains a chemical that keeps the soap in its liquid phase and also dissolves the white haze that otherwise collects on the blades, the inside of the lid and wherever your shaving cream lands! If there is a heavy layer of shaving cream residue on your razor, blades, etc., prepare a liquid hand soap solution in a jar and soak the detachable razor head in it overnight. The next day, lightly brush the inside and blades with an old soft toothbrush under warm water. You will have a new razor that works like new. Watch out for shaving cream. Thick gel creams (like Edge) are a bad choice: they slow down the razor blades, stress the motor (consider replacing it sooner), and leave more marks on the blades and inside the case. Semi-liquid shaving creams (like Neutrogena Shaving Cream) work best without overloading the razor motor and leaving minimal marks on the razor blades. Whatever shaving cream you use, only apply it in a THIN layer - remember its main job is to lubricate the process, not melt the beard!
