Review on πŸ’ˆ MÜHLE TRADITIONAL Twist Safety Razor with Closed Comb: The Ultimate Barbershop Quality Luxury Razor for Everyday Close and Smooth Shaves - Ideal for Men by Tina Harris

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Very good design and reasonable price

I received this shaver quickly and well packaged. It shaves well and isn't too aggressive about the angle the blade is held in the razor or the distance from the edge of the blade for protection. I would say that these properties are suitable for most users. However, this is a heavy razor and personally I don't think that's an advantage, hence four stars instead of five. The heaviness of this razor is partly due to the zamac alloy it is made of. I notice that some reviewers here believed this device was steel. It doesn't attract a magnet and it's not made of steel like most razors. The cost of manufacturing such a block of steel is much higher, so it is reflected in the price. For example, one such steel razor from Seki, the Feather Edge safety razor, is three times the price of this one. Zamak alloys (there are 6 or 7 different variations of this alloy) are more brittle than others in this regard. Despite this, this material is still a good choice for such an item and consider that there are even zamak firearms on the market. However, remember that dropping this razor from the sink onto the floor will most likely result in it breaking where the handle meets the head. The same applies to all similar razors made from this alloy. The R89's "twist to open" feature is handy and allows you to change blades faster than with the much more common three-piece construction. This TTO design includes a spring on the inside of the handle, so the manufacturer recommends that the user apply a drop of oil to the mechanism from time to time by pulling on the handle on the underside of the handle (spring loaded) and applying the oil . to the open shaft, allowing oil to enter the device. The oil will move forward towards the spring inside and it may be a good idea to put another drop on the other end of the handle (or the bolt on the head) into the threads of the bolt. In summary; It's a well designed safety razor, made from good enough material and if care is taken not to drop it and accidentally get a drop of oil on it, it should last a lifetime.
