I don't know how long the dog collar will last but after buying 3-4 collars last year I bought this one. My 50 lb pit wore this collar 24/7 and after about a year the inner padding started to fall apart. That seems like a reasonable lifespan for a dog collar to me. Although I usually wear a choke collar when I pick them up. When I go for a walk, I just attach her open leash to this collar, so surely "looking pretty" was more than just a requirement. Overall I am happy with this purchase and am leaving this review as I am ordering another one. UPDATE: So I'm writing this a week after I put a new collar on my dog. I think I jinxed myself by writing the above review because after a few days the inner padding/lining came loose and the collar started to fall apart. There is no risk of the collar breaking, but the fact that it's already falling apart makes me lose faith. Looks like I'll buy another collar to replace this one. So the first collar lasted a year before it started to wear out badly. The second collar immediately started falling apart after a few days. I noticed that the collars are slightly different, so they are probably made by a different company. I have previously rated this collar a 4/5.
