I am an adult with a small head. I wear children's Patagonia hats and am 5'6, 140lbs. I purchased this hat for ages 6-9 and it fits me well with room to spare. I think it would be too large on most 6 year olds but may work for an older child. The hat is cute and functional for casual purposes. I was hoping I could wear it while running but the denim sweatband may become uncomfortable and will not absorb much sweat. Personally, I don't love that the smiley face is fuzzy and the circle around it is a gold glitter color, but this hat is made for kids so I get it. I will continue looking for a more plain version but this is good for now. Overall, that hat makes me smile and that was the reason for purchasing.
