SAFE HARD AND SUPER SMOOTH.

It is not polished but is clearly sanded. No discernible texture, but polished metals can pick up some grit from the surface when hit with a hammer. The steel is hardened. I know this because the edges are razor sharp! First I tried a file to remove the curse from them and it just glided over it without biting. Instead I used a diamond grinding tool and it worked. I can assume this is the "file" you want! Many are not there. So it is good! I now have a nice smooth anvil surface to lay on my large desktop letter embossing anvil. I chose well! I hope you do too.
