Despite the odd shape, the sidepods come loose when slid up when lifted from the base. After several removals, the boxes can be removed more easily. I put all the bead colors in one, two for faceted beads and one for round beads. I use a medium tray with compartments for a few beads that I work with. Took out a middle compartment and used the empty deep middle for tools, spools of thread, tape measure and end feathers. I also place the finished piece in the deep center to prevent damage.
