Review on Schumacher SC1341 100A Battery Charger by Evan Roberts

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Does not work as described in the manual

Bought a Schumacher SC1341 in December 2018. a few seconds and the charger only output 1V at the battery terminals. I charged the battery for 24 hours and the battery was still dead. I called Schumacher support and spent over 4 hours with them to help me. The technician had me do a few things but to no avail. He got me to use a charger for a good battery (I know the battery is good because it's a new car, it's just done over 100 miles). The support engineer told me to charge a good battery and will call me back in an hour. After 2 hours I decided to call him back but got the voicemail. I tried calling him 3 more times (within 5 days) but couldn't reach him and he didn't reply to any of my voice messages. I wanted to tell him that the %LEDs started to light up at 25% and after a few seconds went up to 75% and shortly after that none of the %LEDs came on. There was no indication that it was 100%. According to the manual the % status LED should always show the charge status and when the battery is fully charged it should show 100% and drop down to 2A (I don't see any state where nothing shows %). LEDs light up). Thinking this unit was defective I returned it and bought another one. The new device seems to work the same as the one I bought in December 2018. Either the manual does not describe correctly how this device is supposed to work, or the second charger I received is also defective. Very disappointed with the technical support/knowledge of the Schumacher Product Support Specialist and the performance of the product.
