I like both but I like the fork better because it's almost like a spork. My nephew hates using forks and spoons and is constantly trying to use his hands, I let him try the spoon and fork and bam my daughter, he loved it. I bought my first set from tjmax and after seeing my nephew use a fork and had no problems I bought two more sets. Not sure what age to start from but I have many other spoons and this one is very easy to use as it is wider and doesn't slip in your hands. My girl was about 15m and my nephew was 2.5 years old.
