I bought these readers because they are very close to my prescription (although strictly speaking they are not prescription glasses. It was the only set I could find at the time that even exceeded +3.00 - approx. 3 lags ). years) and between my work and games with my 5 year old daughter my regular glasses blew up in a short time and my spare glasses were abused. Because prescription glasses are so outrageously expensive ($600 for a broken set; I'd happily admit for a replacement), I ordered them as what I thought were adequate "work glasses" and "hell out of daddy" glasses - I will save my prescription glasses from destruction. Well they worked until my last pair was in good condition after my first purchase wore a heel right over my face. They did pretty well considering I was able to fix them (the point of failure was just behind the hinge - essentially the side support broke with the hinge intact), but they're so cheap I've just ordered another set . While I wouldn't recommend using them as a replacement for prescription glasses, I made the choice for those moments when my prescription glasses were at increased risk - a choice I make; Again, I wouldn't recommend this as acceptable here - I prefer my OTC goggles. But from my experience, I look at them like reading glasses and I know what kind of attack my first set of reading went through by accidentally dropping them. (even on purpose I bet why not?), sitting on them, punishing them as much as possible, like reading glasses, I don't see them breaking. If you get into a real book fight, then yes, maybe. Book fights, while rare, are purely hypothetical as far as I know. In short, are these the best points you can get? No, unfortunately the best ones require a prescription. Are these the best reading glasses? I have no idea. They are the same style, same color and the lenses are thicker than regular (+4.0) prescription lenses. But are they strong, true to their declared power and good value? Yes. Would I buy them again? Yes; and if it's still available then I'll probably go for Round #3.
