Review on πŸ“¦ Honeywell VISTA 20P Aluminum Enclosure for Control Panel by David Fields

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Nice upgrade from my 10SE series

I replaced my Vista10Se which was doing strange things. This model is very similar in layout, but the wiring is slightly different. If you are upgrading from a different model, the resistors that came with the panel are likely different from your old one and you will need to replace them all. There was more flexibility in what you could attach to each port than on my 10SE, but there was a limit to what you could attach to any of the ports on the 20SE. I switched to two 6160 keyboards with my update, so I have full text on both keyboards. One of those keyboards is 6160RF so I can use things like keychains. Make sure you copy all the settings from your old panel if you have programming access. Otherwise, just fill out the options sheet to see what you can change from the default. You can probably just call your security company for settings like phone number and replies if you need it. Every company is different. All my cables came back with no problems. I love that I can now put real words in my zones so you don't need a chart to see what's open. The relay is a little louder. I hear them clicking when I lock and unlock the system. Messaging from this device is much better than my old one. I've also seen some aftermarket devices where the messages would be forwarded to the phone without the need for a relay from the monitoring company. These devices and the app also enable remote arming and disarming. Keep in mind that some surveillance companies just include everything in their offer so that you can get it that way. I was able to keep my old cellular backup and IP adapter which makes my monitoring over the internet work fine. If you've never programmed them before, they can be a bit disappointing. and understanding resistance loops can make you scratch your head. Videos of these panels are available online. I have to say that programming my first HF device was a task, even with video. I probably shouldn't have started by tweaking it to my liking and using the default settings as a starting point for RF (since that would have worked). In the end everything is fine and just the way I want it.
