Unbeatable, both in terms of functionality and price.

If you're looking to build your own wired (or wireless) alarm system, you can't beat this product for functionality and price. keyboards. The instructions usually assume you know how to program one of these things, but there is plenty of information on the internet to help you with this and once you understand how programming works you will find that the instructions are very basic are. detailed and complete. One thing this device doesn't offer is the ability to dial my own cell phone when the…

Old wired FBII system replaced with Vista 20p

I had an old FBII XL31 system installed when the house was built. I could no longer update or monitor the FBII system. I looked at many options including Ring and Connected. Ring was an attractive way to rebuild the system and use existing wired sensors, but I found it a bit complicated and would have cost more than double. Konnected was interesting from the online monitoring aspect, but I wanted traditional keyboards. I chose the Vista 20p for its reliability, price, accessories available, and

Reliable and doable for almost everything.

I am using this to update the fire and security panel in my new home. I used it to replace a similar Honeywell/Ademco Vista 20P that was over 20 years old. These things last a long time, which is exactly what I want from a home fire/security system. The panel I received came with resistors for both "normal" and "zone doubling" configurations. It also included a Honeywell power supply, a panel lock, and a programming guide. My panel also came with modern firmware "10.23". If your device doesn't…

Not for hobbyists

I bought this box (from Revain) as a kit along with many other parts I needed to build a complete system. equipment engineer. I installed my own professional system in another house many years ago. Despite my experience, I spent many hours setting up and programming this system and asking a few questions on the alarm forum. The system I installed many years ago had a computer interface with a program specific to my device. It was a much simpler setup. All my programs were on the 6160RF…

Product image issue notice and battery recommendations.

Excellent price for a new and up to date 20P. Resistors, lock/keys and supplied documentation were included. Note, however, that while the home page image shows a device with a battery, the device received did NOT have a battery. Also, the picture does NOT show a mains transformer, but the unit comes with the required mains transformer. Neither the battery nor the transformer are mentioned in the description. Hopefully the seller will fix this and if they didn't I would rate this listing 5…

Works perfectly! Many functions! Not for the faint of heart.

So my journey started with an old Brinks/ADM system that was reset and I couldn't find the installation codes to restore it. In any case, he is already 25 years old. I wanted to keep the wired sensors I have, including the C0 detector, but I also wanted to be able to expand the system by adding zones. The Vista 20 P came in very handy. I was able to replace an old Brinks BHS3000 system simply by swapping out the circuit boards inside the case. Yes, they were exactly the same hulls. This saved…

After my second home was broken into and the front door was left open for who knows how long, I decided I needed an alarm. After a lot of research and without wanting to mess with contracts, providers and high monthly fees, I decided on this panel and a fully expandable professional system that sends me text messages when the alarm is disarmed, armed, fire, accident, flood and, of course, if there is a burglary. The basis of the system is a 20P panel, 15P fits best if you have no more than six…

Nice upgrade from my 10SE series

I replaced my Vista10Se which was doing strange things. This model is very similar in layout, but the wiring is slightly different. If you are upgrading from a different model, the resistors that came with the panel are likely different from your old one and you will need to replace them all. There was more flexibility in what you could attach to each port than on my 10SE, but there was a limit to what you could attach to any of the ports on the 20SE. I switched to two 6160 keyboards with my…

Good expandable system

I purchased this system to replace a proprietary system that was installed by a previous homeowner and was unused for several years. After a little google searching for the model number, it became clear that the old unit was from Honeywell. I was interested in self-regulation and didn't want to sign an expensive multi-year contract to reactivate the old system. Vista has established itself as platform neutral. Physically, I could reuse existing Honeywell wiring and wireless sensors, but had to…
