Review on 📦 Honeywell VISTA 20P Aluminum Enclosure for Control Panel by Ryan Selpasoria

Excellent price for a new and up to date 20P. Resistors, lock/keys and supplied documentation were included. Note, however, that while the home page image shows a device with a battery, the device received did NOT have a battery. Also, the picture does NOT show a mains transformer, but the unit comes with the required mains transformer. Neither the battery nor the transformer are mentioned in the description. Hopefully the seller will fix this and if they didn't I would rate this listing 5 stars. As for the batteries, typical Vista 20P kits that come with a battery contain a small (4.5Ah) 12V battery. I have learned that this small capacity battery is hardly enough to keep a typical system going during repeated or prolonged power outages as it is required for security and emergency reliability (e.g. panic and fire/smoke alarms). My experience has been to use at least a 7Ah battery in the Vista 20P. But even then, remember that batteries are "living" things that will degrade over time, even if you don't use them. For this reason I run my Vista systems with two 7Ah batteries in parallel (provides 14Ah support for Vista) as well as a mains transformer connected to the UPS. Using a UPS will help protect Vista's power supply from power surges, surges, and lightning damage, and will prevent Vista batteries from draining/charging, thereby extending battery life. I change the batteries in my UPS every two years and in my Vista 20P every three years. Failure to replace batteries in a timely manner can also cause device malfunctions as battery cells can short out, drawing more current from the power source.
