Review on πŸ“¦ Honeywell VISTA 20P Aluminum Enclosure for Control Panel by Michael Hellewell

Works perfectly! Many functions! Not for the faint of heart.

So my journey started with an old Brinks/ADM system that was reset and I couldn't find the installation codes to restore it. In any case, he is already 25 years old. I wanted to keep the wired sensors I have, including the C0 detector, but I also wanted to be able to expand the system by adding zones. The Vista 20 P came in very handy. I was able to replace an old Brinks BHS3000 system simply by swapping out the circuit boards inside the case. Yes, they were exactly the same hulls. This saved me the trouble of unplugging all the cables and plugging them into the new case. This allowed me to just disconnect each wire individually and reconnect them to the Honeywell board. It took me 20 minutes in total. Just in case, the cupboard door has been replaced perfectly, so all the labels are correct. That was the easy part. Then came the programming. Thanks to the included instructions and a little help from YouTube, the system is now working. It takes a little patience to learn how to read the user manual. YouTube videos provided more clarity. I used the 6160RF keyboard to provide wireless sensor extension and the use of a remote key. After about three hours it was working at least as well as my old system. There are a few tricks, so like in zone 1, if you plan on using it for a door or window switch, you have to use one of the supplied terminators. If you want the zone horn to only work on doors or windows, you need to create a "zone list" which should be zone list #03. I spent at least an hour trying to figure it out. I wouldn't spend that much time on that one item, but my wife and kids love the doorbell. Bottom line, the one-keyboard system upgrade cost me about $140 (I'll add more later), and it was actually more. more capable than I expected. Remember that it was designed for the professional installer. So don't expect it to be plug and play, but once up and running it's a solid, scalable system. I will write more as I use the features.
