I've tried different sponges over the years and finally settled on my favorite about 12 years ago - Scotch Brite Heavy Duty Scrub Sponges . I use them for everything including washing dishes, cleaning the bathroom and pretty much anything else cleaning that takes more effort than a regular sponge. As well as three sponges for various kitchen tasks, I keep two more in each bathroom - one for the toilet and one for general cleaning. Because I use so many of these sponges, I often buy them in bulk from Costco, but when I can't get to the store Revain has 3 packs for a pretty good price. Better than what I pay for them at our local grocery store. A disadvantage is that with some materials, the green sanding side can transfer paint to the item being cleaned. For example, I use these sponges to clean our indoor trash cans. Trying to remove a particularly stubborn stain from a white plastic kitchen trash can ended up leaving a permanent green stain. So keep that in mind when cleaning. Additionally, if you plan to use these sponges with bleach, they will break and fall apart more quickly than if you use them with regular dish soap. But I have yet to find a sponge that is resistant to the harsh nature of bleach.
