My Paco, 3lbs, is quite small...so I had to put a towel on his butt. This is great for giving you a free hand and as long as you are careful to hook your child in and secure the tie around their neck they will be safe. The first time I used it I hooked it up thank goodness but didn't fasten the cord around my neck because I couldn't get far and it popped right out. He was fine because he was hooked, but always fasten the string around your neck, especially if it's a puppy. As they get older it may not be such a big problem. I also think it can be a bit hot in the summer depending on where you live. Paco is fine and there is noise and I move, but even then he gets restless. But he's still a pup, so hopefully that will change.
