Bought these to put in little rustic vases around a wedding venue. We got a couple to do a test, and I'm glad we did instead of waiting and being stuck. They look okay for fake plants. You can tell, but they'd probably look good with some distance in photos. However, in a vase with a 5" diameter opening, you would need 2-3 packs of 4 just to look at all like an actual mini shrub. That adds up real quick when trying to fill several vases. I didn't have any issues with a harsh smell, and for a tiny project, they may work fine. It just didn't work for us.
