This metal disc is 2.5mm larger than my previous one. This makes my car mount's magnet stick to it much better so my phone doesn't "dangle" off the mount on bumpy roads. I was able to set it up to use the wireless charger: I had to set it low* so the disc didn't cover any part of the internal charging coil (google it and you can find where yours is; mine is in the center back of the phone and is about 80% of the width of the phone - you can assume this is typical). The ring is mounted to my UAG case (the best case is so many drops and no breakage) so there is some positioning sensitivity and air gap on the charger but it works. Didn't notice the pad or ring getting warm like others have said, but then again I have a Samsung EPN5100 charging station with a built in fan. Although it's mounted on the bottom rear of the phone, it's held in place in the car by a bracket.
