Review on LG HU70LAB 4K UHD Smart Home Theater CineBeam Projector: Alexa Built-in, ThinQ AI, Google Assistant, webOS Lite Smart TV - Netflix, VUDU (Black) by Shawn Xayamonty

A great choice for casual viewers/gamers.

Finally found a projector you can count on. I looked at the Optoma (2017+2019 models) and a couple of the latest BenQ models (all under $2,000) and wasn't entirely happy with either one. Then comes the LG HU70LA and it seems to tick most of the boxes, and voila, it does. A few things that other reviewers seem to miss. Coming from lamp-based projectors, this LG is truly stunning with its near-instantaneous turn-on capability. Of the five or so projectors I've had, this one comes closest to a TV experience. You don't realize how great this feature is until you try it. Second, it transmits MUCH LESS heat than incandescent bulbs. My projector is right behind my seat, next to my head and as previous projectors were insanely hot it was almost unbearable to use it in our theater on summer nights and with the central air conditioning on! While this LG still has quite a bit of warmth, it's not too bad. I bought the smallest external fan (used for babies in strollers) and turned it on and it helps draw heat away from the seats. , Oppo UHD Player, PS5 + Xbox Series X) and they all look amazing in my setup. The room is controlled entirely by light, so I see no need to spend money on an expensive ALR screen. I spent $250 on a stationary white and am completely satisfied.
