This shower head has three different spray patterns with 5 settings. Position 1 activates the center jets, which produce a high-pressure mist jet. I use this position with fully hot water to create a steam bath effect. It uses the least water but produces such a fine mist that it feels cold unless you put it on full blast. Position 3 activates the outer twin nozzle ring for a gentle but powerful jet. I use this position to wash my hair. Position 5 activates a small cluster of central jets that create powerful streams. I rarely use this position, but it's not useless - it can hit a small spot for a light massage, but mostly just the neck or shoulders. Position 2 activates the jets from position 1 and position 3. I don't need this position. Position 4 activates both Position 3 and Position 5 jets and is the best position for flushing. Large amount of water and I can flush very quickly. This is a great shower head if you have a shower where you can control both pressure and temperature separately. I can't tell how well this will work if you have a single controller that's always under full load. It might be ok, but you might find that some positions are less useful. I have two. I liked the first one so much I bought another one for another bathroom. The second didn't work properly. As soon as the water got hot, something in the shower head expanded so much that I couldn't move the selector. I wrote to their customer service and they immediately sent me a replacement by air the second day so they were very responsive. I would give them 4.5 stars if I could, but I feel that the usefulness of the spray patterns isn't perfect and the adjustment isn't as smooth and easy as it could be. It's very good, but not perfect. So 4 stars.
