I bought this bag to replace a very similar bag I had from another company (also Amazon). Some of the improvements to this bag are the pockets. This was a big problem with my old one, which had two pockets that could only hold a couple of doggie bags or a tiny doggie bowl. My phone would fall out. The pockets of this bag can hold a water bottle, phone, her leash, my wallet, etc. There's even a small zipped pocket on the front. It's big enough to fit in my iPhone 7, but it's awkward to get out, so this case is best for small things like keys. It's pretty convenient. I like that the straps can be crossed or straightened like a normal backpack. It has enough space for my older Chihuahua who weighs 4.8 pounds. I love the removable bottom. If it's cold and she needs extra blankets, I can pull out the bottom. The lower part is made of fabric, but I put a small cozy blanket over it. I used to carry my old dog bag over my regular hiking backpack. I haven't tried this, but I'm sure it will work the same way. It's pretty well made, but these things just aren't built to last. My old one started cracking in various places but was still working after 2 years. If I get so much life out of it, I'm happy.
