Not airtight - you can easily remove the lids without breaking the seals
I've had these containers for a while before realizing they were the worst. How I understand it? I found a trail of ants happily marching along. followed them right down one of these containers, over the rim, past the "hermetic" seal and down into the container. That's when I noticed that you can simply pull on the top without breaking the "seal" and the top can be easily removed. Don't buy this. Buy Rubbermaid Brilliance jars instead. They're much better designed, actually sealed, fold better, and are easier to clean. I redid everything and am happy.
