K&N makes exceptional products. Known primarily for their air filters, their oil filters are of the same quality. BUT the main reason for using them is ease of installation and removal. I have an HD oil filter tool and it's marginal at best. On the packer it is difficult to position the tool to release the filter and not to lock the tool in a place where you cannot remove it. There is no problem with the built-in hex nut.
