It took me a while to write my review. I fell in love with the insole/sole immediately. It took a couple of weeks or so for the straps to snap. They are pretty tough when new. I was starting to develop a blister on the outside of one of my ankles but I'm stubborn so I paused to let it heal and then played with the straps until everything was set correctly. Then I lived in these sandals all summer! My daughter had the same problem with the inside of one of her ankles but she gave up on it when it happened. That way you might not have any problems at all, which is great! Each of us only did this on one shoe, not both. But if you do, just give yourself time to become familiar with all the straps, and then only undo one once you get the hang of it to put it on and take it off. Then you will LOVE the insole and be so glad you have one! I'm glad I kept them and worked with them to get them right for me. I wish they were even better if the straps were instantly comfortable, but they are durable and comfortable once you break them in, and the insole is amazingly comfortable from the start.
