I bought this unit to use with a Cannon T5i. At first I thought my item was defective until I realized that the battery compartment had to be closed for the item to work. I use this when using my camera for live streaming or when my regular battery dies. You simply insert an adapter, a fake battery, into your camera, close the door and plug it into an outlet. Now you have unlimited power to power your camera without worrying about running out of battery. I haven't noticed any overheating or issues with my camera since I've been using it.
