I don't need this for a pet. I actually bought this to put up a barrier to keep people from using my porch as a passageway to four other apartments in my area. Of the four of us, we're the only ones with this problem, and it's my pet because I'm a privacy freak. To stop people from doing this, I put up these gates to signal them to use the sidewalk and not cut through our porch. The gate is very strong and folds neatly for storage. in a relatively small space. Since I have to remove the gate regularly, this is a plus. I like the gray color because it goes so well with the paint color on our porch. Since it's free standing I'm not sure how well it will work with pets as most of them can just push it. If I had to use the gate this way, I would probably go with one that could be more securely attached to the wall.
