Thought it would be useful if you travel internationally.
Thought it would be useful for international travel, but turns out this rule and permit applies to domestic air travel, which is under TSA jurisdiction (I think I read that - might to be wrong ). After getting this I didn't use it as my most recent trip was international and I didn't want to take a risk with another security organization. Instead, I decided to buy an arc lighter, which is allowed on air travel.
