Review on πŸ”§ Cardone 66-5235HD Heavy-Duty CV Drive Axle Shaft for Severe-Duty Applications by Carlos Abood

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good for aftermarket CV axles.

I have to say right away that this axle is far from the quality of the Toyota CV OEM axle. If you can afford to buy a $380 factory replacement, please stop reading this review and buy it. If you're like me you're probably looking for an inexpensive alternative to a factory axle and are most likely planning on replacing it yourself. If this is your only route I would suggest this axle to most other aftermarket alternatives. I've put about 3000 miles on this particular axle so far and it hasn't failed. The boots didn't strain or tear, the axle didn't make any background noise. It's not perfectly balanced, which causes a bit of vibration/noise at around 55 mph. go off-road regularly; I have a 3" lifter with no differential drop and the axle won't extend on full camber and wheel lockup. This axle is considered a heavy duty replacement and has some additional features compared to other axles (e.g. additional seal at the wheel bearing contact point to protect against dust/moisture, reinforced cuffs, dust deflectors on both ends), which are included in the scope of delivery. handy if you plan to drive off-road regularly. If you can I would suggest using this axle as a temporary replacement and restoring your old factory axle if it can be salvaged. If not, I'd still suggest saving up for a factory replacement and sticking with it for now. Installation Tips: Lubricate the C-clip to keep it centered when installing in the axle housing. Also be sure to replace the seal on the spindle which prevents debris from getting past the wheel bearing when it is worn, damaged or failure may occur. The wedges can be lightly coated with grease to prevent corrosion.
