So far I like my door very much. Better than the old design. Time will tell if it will last. instructions are missing.

So far I like my door very much. Better than the old design. Time will tell if it will last. But there are no instructions. If you're setting "Dog Claw/Cat's Claw" or "Superscreen," which I recommend, here's a suggestion. on top of a large desktop with pins up. Remove the mesh door and place it on your workbench on top of the first half of the dog door. Position it at the desired height from the bottom of the door and away from the edges. Slide the mesh over the pins by squeezing the mesh on both sides of the pin until the pin penetrates the mesh. On a "dog gap" screen, this takes some effort. Take a utility knife and locate the receiving holes for the other half of the dog door pins. A knife point in each hole simply cuts the screen web just enough to allow the pin to pass through the screen. Don't press too hard or you'll cut the receiving hole and the pins won't stay in place. Enough to cut a thread or two on the screen. When you're done preparing each hole, slide the second half of the pawl onto the first half, using the work table for support. Start at a corner and work your way around the edge of the pooch. door until all pins are in place. Lift the screen door and check its operation. If everything is in order, reinstall the screen door. I know it sounds like extra work to remove the screen door, but if you're installing the door in a 'dog crack' or 'super screen', it's worth the extra effort. This allows for easier, more precise door placement, a surface to press/edit, and you can work on the table instead of crouching and trying to install the door by holding onto the side rails. If you're installing a fiberglass screen, you can probably puncture the screen door without this process, but I wouldn't recommend installing a fiberglass screen. A glass fiber disc becomes brittle after a few years and breaks easily.

Pros
  • Simple design
Cons
  • Easy maintenance
