I just received this filter and placed it in a 100 square foot room with the door closed and a towel on the doorstep. I also rolled down the window and storm window and the light didn't change from red until another filter was placed in the room. So it detects bad air but doesn't seem to filter bad air. I'm in Portland, where the air is very bad because of wildfires; It should work in this small space, though, especially since the other filter only claims to cover 85 square feet and costs $30 less. .
