I would normally make my own wire harness but by the time I bought the wire and assembled everything it would have cost me more than this complete unit. It was very easy to assemble. However, I highly recommend soldering your connections and wrapping each individual wire with heat shrink tape or wrap and then covering the entire triple joint with heat foil. I ended up connecting two separate lights to this bundle and it worked flawlessly! I am a single mother who has also worked as a contractor for the past 18 years. I say this because if you have minimal connection experience, you shouldn't have any trouble installing it yourself. Do not rely on any instructions! If you get them, you're in luck. If your wiring harness doesn't come with instructions, it's pretty much self-contained, and if you have at least a little wiring knowledge you won't have any trouble installing it! But I definitely recommend using heat shrink tubing on all ends and every connection so nothing is left loose and your connection is 100% waterproof.
