Usually, this type of skin pattern is somewhat dramatic. However, in these shoes, it adds a touch of depth without being over the top. The shoes are a nice shade of brown, not too light but not too dark either. They have some polish and the color change around the toe and heel looks really nice. As for the size, I received my normal size and they are a little tight but the right size. I imagine they'll break in and be more comfortable. Nevertheless, they are quite pleasant to commit.
