AC detection not working

I'm giving it 1 star because the live wire detector just doesn't work. I just completely cleaned and swapped out my bathrooms so I know exactly where all the wires are. The search engine could not register anything. In fact, the only time I could register electrical current was when I plugged it into an outlet. Otherwise, the ingot and metal detection works perfectly. I wouldn't say you really need a rod finder because you can usually find your cleats by looking for popped nails with a flashlight at an angle, with a magnet, or simply by measuring the standard 16 inches from an outlet or light switch . But the bolt finder definitely makes the job easier and faster! It also detects metal, so you don't have to drill a pipe (trust me, it's no fun). A tip: even if you're using a stud finder, always try to lightly hammer in a trimming nail before you start drilling. This is a proven way to know for sure what's behind the drywall. Finishing nails are not as sharp and strong as standard nails and will bend if they hit a metal pipe, for example. If you pound gently, you'll also "feel" the electrical cord before piercing the protective coating. Best of all, the trim nail leaves a tiny hole that you can easily fill with caulk if you find you can't drill through the hole.
