BUYER ATTENTION! Brain never worked replacement worse

Installed this on my Honda CRV in 3.5 hours but spent another 8 hours trying to figure out why my lock/unlock and door trigger functions weren't working. I left it on and after a few days the remote lock/unlock functions worked for hours. Then it stops again for a moment. Apparently it works sporadically. In addition, the door start trigger function did not work and worked intermittently, making this alarm useless as it did not even sound when someone opened my door to get in and search my car. I wanted to make sure the problem was with the signal brain so I took my multimeter and checked for continuity and/or voltage since most of my system is grounded. I made sure a solid ground connection to my car's lock/unlock wires at the point I had alarmed earlier worked fine, which it did. The lock/unlock worked great by connecting ground to one of them. I checked the output to the alarm brain when the lock/unlock buttons were pressed and it put out about 11 volts for a split second. I tested the alarm's constant power supply and it's a solid connection at full voltage. The same was done with the ground. There is a reliable earth connection at the point where it connects to the alarm. The side lights, horn, LED and starter interlock seem to work well. However, the alarm is useless if the door trigger input doesn't work and it's annoying if the lock/unlock functions don't work. Revain sent a replacement and he showed up today. I figured I would just have to replace the alarm brain and everything would work fine. However, this one was even worse. The door trigger didn't work an iota. Either Avital or DEI has a bunch of defective brains, or I've just been unlucky. Looks like I'll choose another brand like Viper as they may have better quality control. EDIT: This alarm produces a very weak negative signal and only works in hot weather. When the temperature drops below 85 degrees, the door lock function will stop working. However, the alarms and horns will still work. I'm working on installing a relay to amplify the negative signal to make power locks work in all situations.

Cons
