This little turntable is sooo confusing. I read a lot of reviews about poor sound quality, cheap design and problems with skipping. Of course, I can only speak about my experience, but I do not agree. At first I agreed, then after some fiddling I found that with the right setup this is a really good little player. little time.1. The headphone jack is for headphones, not external speakers. Connecting this to your sound system will give you a much better sound using the wired speaker clip outputs on the back.2. If your sound system has an RCA input option, use that. RCA cables tend to have better shielding, which reduces speaker noise.3. Delivery is a bumpy adventure. If the recording skips, check the needle head assembly. I have noticed that the screw on the stylus head assembly is not tightened as much as it should be and if the stylus is at the wrong angle to the record it can crack. Before returning the device, try to lightly grasp the head at the end of the lever, the part that holds the needle but not the needle itself, and very gently rock it back and forth to bring it back to the lever. Make sure yours is straight down and not at an angle. This worked for me and hasn't been skipped since. I could be a little more detailed above, but given that this device costs less than $50, these articles aren't important, they're the reason you're getting it for $50. I can handle it. Obviously if I were looking for a high end machine I wouldn't pick this one but I wanted something small enough to fit on a shelf and play a good sound and that's what I got. .This will give you amazing sound and replication? Oh no. BUT IT'S LESS THAN 50 BASS AND IT WORKS AND SOUNDS GOOD.
