Review on Sewell SilverbackSL Gold Pin Banana Plugs (12-Pack) for Spring-Loaded Input Connections (SW-30006-12) by Laura Wright

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good plugs. but they sent me an open package.

The product itself gets 4 stars because of the value for money. It works as expected and is fairly easy to use. Just make sure you have one of those little flat head screwdrivers. I can confirm that they are insulated and the parts of the silver case can be touched as they do not conduct electricity against each other. I'm giving 4 instead of 5 because some of them have manufacturing defects. They would be easier to work with if the ends of the wires were smoothed more evenly before gilding. You will get a lot of these as the wire tips have been flattened/flattened prior to gilding and you will need to flip them back a little before using which is not difficult to do. I don't mind, but it seems like it could have easily been prevented with a little extra effort on their part. Also, I've had a few where the outer collar wasn't rolled up properly. Turn and turn, turn and turn. and it never got full. It was at 3 out of 24, so not really important, but again, quality control. The last problem is the only thing that really annoyed me. I paid for a new item. What I didn't pay for was a product that was opened and then poorly taped and sent back. I understand that I didn't buy the box but the items inside, but anyway it's not acceptable or normal to have someone pay for a new product and then send them the item in an open box. The excellent rating is for the product itself as despite some minor quality control issues these are solid forks, easy to use and the quality is on par with more expensive equivalent products. connections, and each speaker uses four of them. So that's enough to connect 6 speakers to the receiver. So if you're buying this for 7.1 or 7.2 you're missing a speaker. Getting this for 5.1 leaves you with 4 ports. (which is handy since you can use the top 20 out of 24 like I did). Be careful when unscrewing the small locking screws. Just slide them out far enough to insert the speaker wire. If you overdo it, the little plug will fall out and it will be a little painful to sit there. It's easier to just sit down at the desk and prepare all the plugs at once, first unscrewing all the small plugs for all the ports you need at once. Despite the packaging issues and minor manufacturing flaws, I would order them again for the price.

Pros
  • Double screws
Cons
  • Expensive
