
I tried these because they were cheaper than the commonly mentioned FTDI converters. On the Internet, users have reported connection problems with the ESP32-CAM. I was concerned that using them would complicate things. Initially they would not load properly at the default 921600 baud (using the Arduino IDE). However, they worked fine when I reduced the speed to 115200 baud. This might work at a medium speed like 460800 but I haven't tried it. I can't fault these converters as people have had the same problem with FTDI converters as well. Explanation of usage: You have a jumper to choose between 5V and 3.3V logic levels. This does not affect the output pin voltage of 5V or 3.3V, only the TX/RX logic levels. The ESP32 requires 3.3V logic levels but people say it programs more reliably if you use its 5V Vcc pin. I set the jumper to 3.3V but the 5V Output pin connected to the ESP32's 5V Vcc pin so it can regulate its own diet. It worked very reliably for me.
