I bought these USB/battery powered LED strips to attach to my scooter deck to attract attention with colorful hues when riding at night. I'm not sure if I'll be using battery or USB to power it regularly, but I've tried both ways to make sure they both work properly, which they did. I like that there is an on/off switch on the battery compartment so my batteries don't drain as others have complained that some other brands do. The battery case is as durable as these cases. Hard black plastic but this one seems a little better than the others. I didn't have a screw to hold the case tightly together, but the two pieces still fit together nicely. If you don't have a screw it's easy to replace and you might not even need it like me. Try a screw from a pair of glasses. The back of the battery case slides in instead of being detachable, which helps hold it in better. It will not fall off with a screw. The wires feel solid and fit together with no slack, and the length is great. The actual length of the light strip from end to end is 78 inches. This does not include wiring. lights only. The cables themselves aren't too short, but long enough to be able to move them a little farther from the battery if needed. They're also easy to fold up and hide somewhere with a zip tie if they're too long. The headlights are waterproof and easy to clean. I ended up only using 1 foot and cutting off the rest. It was as simple as taking a pair of scissors and cutting the dotted line between the lights. (If you look closely you can see a line between all three lights.) What hasn't been used can still be used later with a $5 follow-up purchase. The adhesive on the back isn't the best and I don't see the bulbs sticking if they are to be used in any way other than completely flat. The light strips are too stiff to give the necessary flex to wrap around and stick to things, especially in hard-to-reach places. Try the velcro which also makes it easy to remove/replace if needed! But I don't understand why they couldn't stick to almost anything with better glue/glue. The included roll of 3M tape is a nice addition, although I didn't use it. I'm sure this will come in handy one day. At first the remote control to control the light didn't work. They were freaking out and seemed to be in some sort of demo mode. I easily fixed the problem by turning off the lights and unplugging them (or removing the batteries if I was using a backpack), removing the battery from the remote, then putting the same battery back in and turning the lights on with the button again turned on . Remote control. Because the lights use radio frequency, they often become confused, fail, and become unresponsive. This seems to be people's main problem, which is why they think they're broken. If this happens, try doing what I suggested several times. They must be dropped. Make sure the removed battery is also in the right direction. If there are other devices nearby that use Bluetooth or radio, they can create a mixed signal. Remember that! All replacement remote control batteries can be easily purchased in-store for $1 or less than $2 for a 4-pack online. So far I haven't had any problems with my headlights and they work great on my scooter. They were easy to customize to my needs and even easier to install. I have yet to ride them so I don't know how well they will handle the general rockiness of the road. I'm not at all worried about the headlights themselves, but more about how well the battery and wiring can withstand bumps. When it comes to electronics, poor quality wiring causes the most problems, so I'll monitor its effectiveness. I hope the shock doesn't cause the wires to slowly loosen and lose connection. For the price and ease of use they work great so far! Not sure why other negative reviews but I have found that many brands have bad reviews as well. I think it might just be luck and some get better units and others poorly built. Also, many people don't know how to reset the batteries when the remote/lights aren't responding. This can lead to an influx of returns and bad reviews. The manufacturer should include more detailed operating/troubleshooting instructions than the one included in the box. Reporting is very short, not detailed, poor English manual which is adequate but could be a lot better. So far so good and the price couldn't be better ($13.48 plus an additional 20% off). In 1 month I will update my current thoughts on USB/battery powered LED strips and how they work today. * Please click "helpful" if you think this was the case! that's what the lights wind on. I didn't want to embarrass anyone. See photo.)
