I combined two of these with the Foamily Fome Bed Bridge Pad. It seems like a winning combination for back and comfort issues caused by split mattresses and the odd gap in the middle of the bed. One belt faces up and the other faces down. I keep the straps taut and had to tie a knot in the strap through the buckle. I had to tie it because on one the buckle didn't hold up at all and on the other it started slipping. I also use large safety pins as guides to hold the straps in place. I have a memory foam bed and the straps dig a lot into the mattress but I don't think it really hurts her. The lintel bridges the odd crack, and these ties hold the mattresses together. Like it a lot! **Update** Six months later I find that a strap solves the problem. Two are not needed. The straps digging into my memory foam mattress didn't hurt. If I remove the straps (which is rare), the bridge pad becomes unusable. The strap without bridge padding is fine, but it still doesn't feel like a large mattress when I sleep. I am very satisfied with the purchase so far.
